Purpose and scope

Conflict Management training aims to enable learners to learn and develop understanding of the concepts of managing conflicts within the organization using various methods, conflicts and conflict management. This training will enable participants to understand the types of conflicts as well as techniques for managing conflicts and the role of the third party in resolving conflicts. Participants will gain the skills to manage various conflicts that they have experienced or are likely to experience in the organization and to use the conflict management model.

Conflict Management training aims to develop knowledge and skills to understand how to deal with conflict situations, clarify expectations and manage oneself and others in conflict situations and environments, understand the nature of conflict and distinguish when conflict is positive or negative, appropriately use strategies to deal with conflict, implement the steps necessary to resolve conflict and reach a mutual understanding. This training helps to avoid the damaging effects of conflicts in individual and institutional terms and to contribute to the creation of a positive corporate culture by resolving conflicts constructively.

Target audience

Conflict Management training is recommended for all employees and managers who need to cope with conflicts and resolve conflicts in a more positive way in all kinds of institutions and organizations or in daily life.

Trainers

Conflict Management training is delivered by trainers who have experience in conflict management training and capacity building in conflict management and resolution practices in institutions or who have conducted field studies and research on this subject.

Objectives and learning outcomes

Those who have successfully completed the Conflict Management training are expected to;

  • Determine how to confront the conflict,
  • Clearly define conflict situations,
  • Distinguish between negative and positive conflicts,
  • Distinguish types of conflicts,
  • Use appropriate strategies to create a common understanding of the problem and the solution in case of conflict,
  • Identify which conflict management technique to use in different situations,
  • Develop strategies to deal with difficult people and difficult situations,
  • Apply techniques and steps to manage conflicts in a positive way.

  • Causes and Sources of Conflict
  • Conflict Management Techniques
  • Management of Individual, Interindividual and Inter-Unit Conflict
  • The Role of Third Parties in Resolving Conflict
  • Conflict Management at the Institutional Level

Delivery and method

Conflict Management training is applied in the form of face-to-face training. It is recommended to have no more than 20 people in each group to ensure active participation and effective learning in this training. However, if conditions arise that prevent face-to-face training, the training may be delivered remotely by using the Me-Learning© online learning platform and the Actio© meeting management tool.

The trainer guides learners through interaction, group work and practice in a way that facilitates learning and improves their practical skills. In order for the learners to experience skills such as clarifying conflicts, determining conflict types, using appropriate techniques, developing a common understanding for resolution, practical activities such as role playing, group work, working on conflict examples/scenarios are carried out.

Learning tools and materials

In order to develop learners’ skills in using conflict management strategies, implementing conflict resolution stages, and managing individual and organizational conflicts, case studies, templates and worksheets are used as learning materials along with course presentation.

Audio visual and multimedia materials, templates, worksheets and other materials for exercises and practices are prepared by the trainer and distributed to the participants. However, if there is a sufficient number of hardware such as computers, notebooks or tablets in the learning environment, all materials are provided in a digital format and studies are carried out in digital context.

In accordance with our waste reduction policy, printed materials are not distributed in this training unless it is educationally necessary.

Assessment and evaluation

In order to optimize the learning process according to the learners’ needs, the level of readiness of the learners is assessed informally by the trainer at the beginning of the training. The studies carried out by the learners, such as exercises and practices are assessed as indicators of the development / learning and the trainer provides feedback and adjusts learning activities based on them in order to ensure effective learning. In addition, at the end of the training, the Training Evaluation Questionnaire is applied.

All participants who complete the training receive a certificate of participation showing that they have completed the Conflict Management training and the name and duration of the training they have received is clearly stated.
